AI capable systems require enormous and expensive computing power for self-learning algorithms. Operating of innovations with AI components depend on the availability of capacities. If the computing power of algorithms happens in the cloud or is even made available by cloud providers, solutions from start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises become technically and economically interesting. The biggest cloud providers like Microsoft, Amazon and Google offer first potential scenarios and open source AI platforms to enable and host AI for innovative solutions. New cloud-based AI services enable a variety of innovative solutions which would be impossible without cloud capacity. That makes this approach a future-oriented one. When including such services, the legal framework has to be taken into account.
