In the time of Internet of Things more and more products are able to receive and send data. Intelligent interfaces allow for the product to collect and process data from its environment. The product can thus be integrated into a superior system, operating more efficiently than an individual product due to the network effect. Many products can be linked to a central data cloud (Many to One) to make software updates available immediately, use the processor and storage capacity of the cloud or to have central control over several products. The connection can also take place without a central unit (Many to Many), allowing entire process networks built up by different products to communicate with each other, exchange data and coordinate their functions. Only few people are then required to control the entire process, instead of needing someone to regard each individual product.
