In order to meet the customer wishes, various individual parts are produced and configured or assembled according to customer's request. The result is the customer-individualized product. The entire product is produced as standardized as possible before individual parts are assembled or customized on request. Large companies offer a range of products in which certain standard components are assembled. Basis is the assembly and/or configuration after requirement (sometimes also called “build to order”). In this way individual desires can be considered in the standard. That creates a significant benefit for the customer and can lead to a long-term business relationship. Especially in the field of standard software development this process is widely applied.
